Changes take place at Winsted DFA plantDairy Farmers of America's Winsted plant (DFA), formerly Mid-America Dairymen, is under new management and other changes have been made. According to Ron Collett, manager of the Zumbrota plant and other portions of the DFA company, the Winsted plant is not closing. DFA is looking at several options of product lines to make the plant more profitable. Those include custom drying, speciality cheeses, and different technology in the cheese making process. Doug Peckham is now the plant manager, Dan Konz is cheese manager, and Dan Pauman is plant engineer. Dawn Amundson is sharing quality assurance responsibilities in both Winsted and Zumbrota. Collett said the changes are a result of the Jan. 1, 1998 restructuring. At that time, all plants were appraised as to how they fit in the profitability of the company. |
