Fatal accident near Silver Lake

A two-vehicle accident on Highway 7, two miles west of Silver Lake, at 1:10 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 21, killed one person and injured two others.

A 1995 Jeep, driven by David Degross, 53, of Bloomington, was west bound on Highway 7 when it crossed the center of the roadway and struck a 1997 Ford truck that was east bound on Highway 7. It was driven by David Hubel, 55, of Maynard.

Degross was transported to the Hutchinson Hospital. He was later airlifted to the Hennepin County Medical Center. Hubel was treated and released from the Hutchinson Hospital.

His wife, Margaret Claire Hubel, 55, a passenger in the truck, was transported to the Hutchinson Hospital, and later airlifted to the Hennepin County Medical Center. She died in surgery, according to the Minnesota State Highway Patrol.
