Bob Hiivala seeking Wright County Auditor-Treasurer position

Wright County's Chief Deputy Auditor-Treasurer Robert Hiivala has announced his candidacy for the office of auditor-treasurer of Wright County.

Hiivala has worked in the auditor/treasurer's office for the past several years as a state auditor and in his current position, which he has held since December 1995.

He plans to continue the progress that has been made in the office to improve efficiencies and customer service; such as the implementation of the use of personal computers, and the evaluation of methods used to process information.

Prior to coming to Wright County, Hiivala was an auditor for the state of Minnesota, where he learned how to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of county governments. In this position, he was able to review the county's compliance with state and federal laws, as well as compliance with their own accounting procedures.

As chief deputy auditor-treasurer, it has been Hiivala's responsibility to assist in the day to day management of the auditor-treasurer's office. His previous experience has helped to improve the methods used to increase office efficiency, as well as improve the department's ability to respond to the public's needs.

Hiivala has a bachelor of science degree in accounting from St. Cloud State University, and he has received continued professional education as a state auditor.

He comes from a family of 10, and he feels that there has been nothing more important than family in his life.

Hiivala believes that his education and experience make him a well-qualified candidate for the office of Wright County Auditor-Treasurer.
