Arsonist strikes Glencoe Pamida store
The Glencoe Fire and Police departments responded to a fire at the Pamida store in Glencoe at 6:41 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 23.
The fire department quickly extinguished the fire, which was located near the check-out lanes in the front of the store. A number of clothing articles, such as sweatshirts, were on fire, according to the Glencoe Police Department.
The state fire marshal has ruled the fire an arson.
Although the spread of fire was quickly controlled, there was considerable smoke damage. Initial damage estimates exceed $65,000.
There were 25 Glencoe firefighters on the scene. Members of the fire department were on the scene until 10 p.m., according to a fire department spokesman.
Despite fire and smoke damage, Pamida was open for business the next day. Clean up continues.
