Howard Lake in this year's Parade of Homes
By ANDREA VARGO
This is the first year the Parade of Homes will make an appearance in Howard Lake said Realtor Joe Lemmerman.
The house in the Dutch Lake Woods Development has been built especially for this event, he said.
In order for a home to be accepted into the Parade, Lemmerman said there are several things that must take place.
The builder needs to have taken part in a couple of shows, been associated with the Builders' Association for several years, and pay a large entry fee.
Harold Swanson with Northwest Developers is a past president of the Builders' Association and is the connection with that organization.
Steve Stortz is a licensed contractor, and working with Northwest, this project was put together, said Lemmerman.
He said he and Stortz designed the home for the Parade, and it is being furnished by Countryside Furniture and Gifts of Cokato.
The Parade opened Saturday and runs Thursday thru Sundays until Sept. 27. The hours are from noon until 7 p.m. each of those days.
Lemmerman said there are 51 lots for sale in the development, and special offers will be available for some of the first buyers.
The first two buyers will get $6,000 off on a lake lot and some inner lot buyers will get $5,000 off the listed price. There are many other specials, too, he said.
Coffee and cookies will be available for those who come to see the city's first Parade home.
