A large crop of wild marijuana was found growing on a property
in Hutchinson Township on Oct. 13-14, after the McLeod County Sheriff’s
Department executed a search warrant at the residence.
The suspect, Jarret L. Gilmer, 30, was found in possession
of a large amount of suspected marijuana plants he had drying in outbuildings
located on the property.
The estimated street value of the plants found drying was
$133,000, said Wayne Vinkemeier of the sheriff’s department.
Gilmer has been charged with a controlled substance crime
in the third degree-possession of marijuana by the McLeod County Attorney’s
office.
Unrelated to that search warrant, the sheriff’s department
found a large crop of wild marijauna growing on a separate piece of land
that adjoins Gilmer’s property. Sheriff department officials also eradicated
this patch of suspected marijuana.
Vinkemeier estimated the street value on that large patch
of wild marijuana at approximately $1 million.
At this time, there have been no arrests made regarding
the second patch of wild marijuana.
