Srs. Annella Fiecke and Johannella Fiecke celebrated 80 years of service to God on Sunday, April 26, 1998 in Milwaukee, Wis.
Rose Agnes Fiecke, daughter of John Fiecke and Anna (Millerbernd) Fiecke, was born on May 10, 1901. Rose entered the convent of the School Sisters of St. Francis on June 25, 1918. She was then known as Sister Annella.
Sr. Annella served the community as teacher in various schools in Illinois, Nebraska and Wisconsin. She was an elementary, high school and college teacher and earned her master's degree at DePaul University.
When she retired from teaching she moved to Marian Hall, a home for the retired sisters.
During the following years she served as a teacher for the senior citizens of Milwaukee and as the accountant for the sisters at Marian Hall.
Sr. Annella currently resides at Sacred Heart Convent in Milwaukee, Wis. She is 97 years old.
Sophie Lidwina Fiecke, blood sister of Sr. Annella, was born June 25, 1903. She entered the convent of the School Sisters of St. Francis on Aug. 20, 1917 and was then known as Sister Johannella.
She served the community as a teacher in various schools in Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin and was an elementary, high school and college teacher.
In 1945, Sr. Johannella earned a Ph.D at Marquette University.
Since retiring from teaching, Sr. Johannella has served the community as an accountant for the sisters with whom she lives and also in the Provincial Business Office. Sr. Johannella is 94 years old and resides at Sacred Heart Convent.
Two other daughters of John and Anna Fiecke also became nuns.
Sr. Firmata spent 32 years in the convent, passing away at the age of 50. Sr. Alexander spent 67 years in the convent and died at age 84.
The sisters are the aunts of Sidora (Fiecke, class of '46) Koch, Winsted. She and Francis and Joan Fiecke went to Wisconsin to celebrate with the sisters.
