As part of Waverly Daze activities, Friday and Saturday, July 10-11, the Waverly royalty and candidates will be helping the Waverly Boosters with children's games, selling root beer floats, and enjoying the fireworks, Friday, July 10.
Summer months also bring many parades for the royalty to attend. The Waverly Fire Department will be escorting the candidates throughout July.
This year's candidates are Joanna Padden, Mary Bakeberg, Carrie Paetow, Katie Fitzpatrick, and Jennifer Borrell.
Parents: Ken and Karen Borrell
Why I would like to be a candidate: I would like to be a candidate because it sounds like it would be a lot of fun. I think it would be a really good way to meet people. It would be good for me to learn how to be poised and act properly. It would also be good to learn how to speak in front of a large group of people.
Parents: Jerry and Liz Paetow
Why I would like to be a candidate: The candidates get to go to a lot of different functions where they meet people from all over and can find lasting friendships, not only from our community. I want to get more involved in my community, and will know what is happening.
Parents: Greg and Faye Bakeberg
Why I would like to be a candidate: I would like to be a candidate for Miss Waverly because I think it would be a very rewarding experience for me. I also think it would be a lot of fun, and a great way to meet new people. I would represent Waverly in a positive way.
Parents: Robert and Rosalie Padden
Why I would like to be a candidate: I would like to represent Waverly and learn how to present myself. Coming from a small community, it's nice to know your neighbors and all the other friendly people who live in our community.
Parents: Tom and Jan Fitzpatrick
Why I would like to be a candidate: I think it would be
enjoyable and help me to get to know the people in the community better.
There's a big opportunity in small towns to meet many community members
and greet them on a first name basis.
