Farmington wins Waverly fastpitch tourney Farmington Independent of Farmington defeated DC Financial of West St. Paul, 6-5, in a heart-stopping game to win the Waverly Daze fastpitch tourney. DC Financial finished in second place, Fantasy Sports of St. Paul took third and Awadas of West St. Paul, fourth. Nineteen teams from Fargo, N.D.; Hammond, Wis.; Dawson, Haywood, Lucan, Farmington, St. Paul, West St. Paul and Howard Lake competed in the tournament. Some of the tournament highlights included Mike Applegade's tournament-high .400 batting average, pitcher Lance Butzold 3-0 record with a 1-0 shutout in the Sunday morning game against Dawson Engineering, and pitcher Greg "Chopper" Lammers 2-0 record with a save in the championship game. |
