7-year-old dies in car accident

By Luis Puga

A car accident claimed the life of a child Tuesday on Highway 7, east of Cable Avenue.

According to the State Patrol, a westbound '89 Ford driven by Lisa Houlihan, 33, of Waconia, was attempting to make a left hand turn.

That vehicle was struck by an eastbound '96 Chevy, driven by Raymond Friedrich, 46, of Minnetonka, at 4:01 p.m. The two cars ended up in the ditch on the south side of Highway 7.

Houlihan had four passengers in her car including her husband, Terry, 45, and their children: daughter Brennan, 5; son Dillon, 5; and son Taylor, 7.

Taylor was determined dead at the scene of the accident.

The other passengers and drivers were taken to area hospitals for treatment. Friedrich was treated at the scene.

Responding to the accident were the State Patrol, the McLeod County Sheriff's Department, the Lester Prairie Fire and Police Departments, and Ridgeview Ambulance Service.
