Sheriff, fire marshal seek help in arson investigation

The McLeod County Sheriff's Department, along with the state Fire Marshal's Office, is investigating an arson fire in Bergen Township involving an abandoned barn on 155th Street, about a half-mile west of Falcon Avenue, north of Glencoe.

Glencoe firefighters responded to a call at 9:37 p.m. May 18, and found the barn on fire.

Firefighters were at the scene for about two hours and reported that about 700 bales of hay and straw also were lost in the blaze.

According to Detective Wayne Hatlestad, the sheriff's office is attempting to locate a dark blue Geo Tracker with a white soft top that was seen in the area at the time of the fire.

Anyone with information regarding the fire is asked to contact the sheriff's department.

Hatlestad said the Minnesota Arson Reward Project is offering up to $2,500 for information leading to the identification of the persons responsible for this fire.

Contact the Minnesota Arson Hotline at 800-723-2020 or the sheriff's office at 320-864-3134.
