On to Indiana for Minnesota State Lutheran basketball championsIn a sound 62-39 defeat over Redeemer Wayzata, the St. James seventh and eighth grade boys basketball team captured the state championship March 6 at Concordia in St. Paul. The young cagers will now advance to the national tournament in Indiana Friday to Sunday, March 26-28. After receiving a first round bye, the St. James boys defeated Mayer 44-33. They then went on to defeat New Ulm 58-32 to put them in the championship match. St. James' cagers faced Redeemer Wayzata in a rematch of their league championship in which St. James won by only two. This time, though, St. James took off to an early lead and never let up on their way to a 62-39 win. Jacob Barth and Adam Stueven were also picked for the all-tournament team at State.
