Benedictine Health System acquires Winsted nursing home

The St. Mary's Care Center, located at 551 Fourth St. in Winsted, has become a member organization of the Benedictine Health System (BHS), which assumed ownership of the center from Health Dimensions Inc.

Now called Benedictine Health Dimensions, the expanded long-term care division for BHS will continue to manage the 90-bed long-term care facility under BHS ownership.

"We are excited to include St. Mary's Care Center in our Benedictine healthcare ministry," said Barry Halm, president and CEO of Benedictine Health System. "The comprehensive resources and expertise that the system brings will ensure that this center continues its commitment to high quality care for older adults."

As a Catholic-sponsored facility, St. Mary's Care Center will adhere to the ethical and religious directives for Catholic healthcare organizations. BHS has conducted orientation sessions for employees of the facility to help them become acquainted with BHS' mission and values.

The Benedictine Health System is a Catholic, nonprofit health care system based in Duluth, and sponsored by the Benedictine sisters of St. Scholastica Monastery. BHS owns and/or manages 68 healthcare facilities in seven midwestern states.
