Kindergarteners present 'Bugs' to grandparents
Lester Prairie kindergartener Bryce Pool was excited about being in the Grandparents' Day program with his friends recently.
The theme of the presentation was "Bugs!" The children included finger plays and songs about bees, spiders, ladybugs, flies, grasshoppers, and ants.
Bryce likes physical education classes in kindergarten. His very favorite activities during those times include playing games with the bean bags and the scoops, doing jumping jacks, and learning individual square dance actions.
After he and his classmates recently read "On the Go," a book about transportation vehicles, Bryce enjoyed driving trucks through the city structures built in the block center.
Bryce likes to celebrate birthdays in class. This week, Katie turned six. All of the children shared pretend gifts and "good wishes" with her in celebration of her special day.
Bryce likes to ride bike when he is not in school. When he grows up, he plans to be in bike races.
Student Brooke Pontillo says she likes everything in kindergarten - especially her teacher and friends.
Her class has been learning about energy users and ways to conserve energy. Brooke has decided it is less costly to skate, walk, or bike than to drive a car. Recently, Brooke was busy making clay sculptures of herself skating.
The kindergarten classes went on a field trip to the Lester Prairie clinic, where they learned about what health care workers do and also about keeping healthy. Brooke has also enjoyed going on other walks in the community to learn about nature.
When Brooke grows up, she wants to work at places like her mom.
