Weather hampers Wright fair attendanceThis year 43,585 people came through the gates at the Wright County Fair. That was a drop from close to 60,000 in 1998, said fair board member Dennis Biese. He attributed the decline to the week's high heat and humidity. For example, the Friday, Aug. 27 attendance was only 5,437 compared to 21,444 in 1998. Friday started with intense heat and humidity, followed by a downpour that caused the demolition derby to be rescheduled. Saturday and Sunday, the weather dried out a bit and the crowd size returned to normal. |
