Howard Lake man dies in fire
A house fire claimed the life of Bernard Martinson, 68, April 17, reported Howard Lake Police Chief Mike Simmons.
The Howard Lake Fire Department and the police department responded to the call.
When they reached the residence at 624 6th Ave., the house was filled with smoke, and the victim could not be located.
Assistant County Coroner Pete Palmer said preliminary findings indicate Martinson, who was in poor health, was not alive when the fire started.
Martinson occupied one floor of the home, and the couple that lived on the other level was not injured.
The fire is under investigation by the Minnesota State Fire Marshal.
