Herald-Journal.com and KWOM start joint Web venture

The Herald and Journal, along with KWOM Radio of Watertown, have launched a joint Web site promotion venture.

KWOM Radio's Web site went live last week at www.kwom1600.com.

Designed by the Herald and Journal's electronic publishing department, the site will feature area news, funeral announcements, area sports, and a community calendar, updated daily.

The newspaper site at www.herald-journal.com and KWOM are sharing some news elements as well as promotional opportunities for area businesses.

For example, there is a weather page shared by both sites that includes an up-to-the-minute weather report, plus access to several other weather resources on the Internet.

The sites also share a sports page carrying a variety of sports-related links and information. KWOM will be adding daily updates of sports reports soon.

Also coming soon is daily funeral announcement information from KWOM.

The radio station's site will carry funeral announcements, while the newspaper's site has complete obituaries. Both pages are linked to each other for easy access.

On the promotion side, businesses will be able to take advantage of marketing packages that include newspaper ads, radio spots, and electronic ads that appear on both Web sites.

The joint venture takes advantage of what each media outlet does best, offering both consumers and businesses easy access to more information from a larger area.
