Public input requested for Lions Park project

Lions Park will get a make-over when the Wright County
Rd. 7 realignment takes place, said City Administrator Doug Borglund at
the Howard Lake City Council meeting Tuesday.

Input from residents is very welcome, since there is only
a rough idea of what might be in the park, he said.

It is assumed there will be a relatively indestructible
and safe playground for children, and Borglund said he has looked at some
specifications for plastic coated picnic tables and benches.

The manufacturer claims it is vandalism proof, he said.

Borglund said he thought it might be nice if there were
benches scattered throughout the playground and by the shelter, so parents
could watch their children easily or just sit with a nice view of the lake.

The most important thing is what people really want for
their park, he said.

Two suggestions from the audience included a horseshoe
pit and a shuffle board for families who picnic there.

Grills for picnics are another idea Borglund felt would
enhance the appeal of the area.

Residents are encouraged to stop by city hall and give
the staff any suggestions they might have, or call 320-543-3670.
