Bids to be accepted for McLeod courthouse renovation

By Gail Lipe

The McLeod County Board of Commissioners met with the building committee Tuesday, Nov. 23 in a workshop to go over the schedule and plan for the courthouse renovation.

The plan is to accept bids beginning Dec. 22, and award the bid on Dec. 28.

"If the contractors say that is not enough time to respond, there is a back-up plan," said Nan Crary, McLeod County administrator.

After the bid is awarded, construction will begin as soon as possible. Crary said, if the construction can begin around Jan. 1, it may be completed by the end of November, 2000.

The construction will be done in four phases, with each phase being a section of the courthouse. The offices located in each section will be moved during the construction and then replaced when that section's remodeling is complete.
