Waverly princess wraps up year

By Tammy Sawatzke

For the past year, I have been honored to represent the city of Waverly as the Princess and Miss Congeniality.

This year was truly one that I will never forget. From the events in Waverly to parades, luncheons and coronations in the surrounding communities, I am always greeted with smiles and friendly greetings.

I have really enjoyed representing Waverly in other communities this past year. I have had the chance to gain many new friends, and also to strengthen some of the friendships that already existed.

I have learned a lot about the city of Waverly this year. I can honestly say that I never realized how much work and how many helping hands it takes to put on all the events and activities in Waverly.

Without hard workers and volunteers, there wouldn't be a Waverly Daze Celebration. Thank you to all of these volunteers for all of your dedication and hard work.

During the past year you may have found Queen Stephanie and I in one of the 18 towns that we traveled to as royal ambassadors, or you may have seen us at one of the many events held in Waverly. Thank you for all the friendly hellos along parade routes and at local events. You make being a town ambassador fun and exciting.

The best part about my year was definitely the look on children's faces as I approached them on the parade route or at local events. I sometimes forget about the sparkling crown on my head and find myself wondering what they are staring at. Well, I am wearing my crown, even my goddaughter and the children I see everyday look up at me in awe. I am proud to be a positive role model to each of them.

The Waverly Ambassador Committee worked hard to make our year go smoothly. Queen Stephanie and I have great memories and a lot of fun pictures. My family was always there with love and support and the year wouldn't have been possible without them.

I would like to wish all of the Waverly candidates for the year 2000 - 2001 the very best of luck. And remember, the very best you can be is yourself.
