St. James boys team represents Minnesota



The St. James Lutheran boys basketball team represented
Minnesota well at the nationals in Indiana.

The team finished as one of the top 10 out of a field of
24 teams at the tournament.

The boys wound up winning three games and losing two.

Their first game was a 44-39 win over Ocala, Fla, but then
the team lost 34-44 to the Texas state champion from Klein.

In the third game, the team posted a 28-22 win over Houston,
Texas, followed by another win, 53-34, over the Florida state champion from
Boca Raton.

The last game was a 29-39 loss to Bethel out of Chicago,
Ill.

Some of the highlights and statistics included shooting
64 percent from the free throw line (38-59). The team made a total of 18
3-pointers.

Scorers included: Adam Stueven – 73, Josiah Hagemann –
35, Jacob Barth – 27, Travis Henning – 23, Rob Painschab – 19, Jason Jeseritz
– 7, and Nathan Gruenhagen – 4.

The St. James boys basketball team greatly appreciated
the support from the community including the Howard Lake Lions Club, American
Legion Post 145, Lioness Club, Gerry’s Super Valu, Attorney Chuck Paschke,
Donna’s Salon, Joe’s Sport Shop, Midtown Repair, Rainbow Auto Sales, Total
Entertainment Center, Howard Lake Drug/Health Mart, Red’s Family Restaurant,
Diers Plumbing and Heating, Overland Quast, Omar Glessing, Gordon and Lenora
Kubasch, Gerry and Carol Burau, and Ken and Gloria Bobrowske.
