Settlement reached in McLeod strike
McLeod County clerical workers returned to work Friday after a settlement was reached in a mediation session Thursday.
A two-year contract was approved with a general increase of 2 percent in 2000 and 2.75 percent in 2001, an economic package consistent with contracts previously agreed to by AFSCME and Teamsters highway bargaining units.
One addition of $12.50 per month per employee to the cafeteria benefit plan was agreed to in the second year of the contract, according to County Administrator Nan Crary.
Union employees voted to accept settlement following Thursday's mediation session.
County departments are in the process of resuming full services to the public, Crary said.
The strike began Aug. 22.
