Hearing dates set for Pool murder defendants

Scheduling conferences took place for the omnibus hearings and trial dates for the six defendants in the Randy M. Pool murder case on Friday.

Pool's body was found in a duffel bag on July 28 in the Clearwater River in Wright County. The defendants allegedly held Pool against his will in his Hutchinson home around July 18 to July 21, according to court records.

During that time, Pool was allegedly bound by duct tape and plastic ties and repeatedly beaten.

On Friday, the attorneys met with the judge in chambers and came up with a tentative schedule.

Richard Patrick Ligenza, indicted on kidnapping charges, has an omnibus hearing scheduled for Nov. 23, with the jury trial beginning at 9 a.m. on Nov. 30.

Shawn Allen McCollum, indicted for first-degree murder, second-degree murder and kidnapping, is scheduled for an omnibus hearing at 9 a.m. on Dec. 17, with a jury trial beginning at 9 a.m on Jan. 18.

Isaac Leroy Engstrom, indicted for first-degree murder, second-degree murder and kidnapping, also is scheduled for an omnibus hearing at 9 a.m. on Dec. 17, with a jury trial beginning at 9 a.m. on Feb. 15.

Heather Lynn Ecklund, indicted for first-degree murder, second-degree murder and kidnapping, is scheduled for an omnibus hearing at 9 a.m. on Jan. 7, with a jury trial beginning at 9 a.m. on March 14.

Toby Earl Johnson, indicted for first-degree murder, second-degree murder and kidnapping, is scheduled for an omnibus hearing in early March, with a jury trial beginning at 9 a.m. on April 11.

Tanya Ann Caldwell, indicted on kidnapping charges, has an omnibus hearing scheduled for 1:15 p.m. on Nov. 19. The jury trial date will be set at the omnibus hearing.
