Waverly Daze fun starts July 9

A free family night leads the activities for Waverly Daze at Legion Park Friday, July 9, with t-ball, baseball, and girls softball.

Fireworks will entertain the crowd at dusk, and fastpitch softball follow the fireworks.

Starting Saturday, July 10 at 8 a.m., the fishing contest begins on Big Waverly Lake with lots of prizes to be won.

Fastpitch softball tournament games continue at Waverly and Montrose parks. A co-rec volleyball tournament is also on the Saturday agenda, and for more information, you can call Pam at 320-658-4229 evenings.

A horseshoe tournament starts about 1 p.m., and from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., there is a free dance featuring the Echoes.

On Sunday, July 11, eat a hearty pancake breakfast at the Knights of Columbus Hall, and then watch more softball and volleyball.

A new feature for the hometown celebration will be a parade at 2 p.m. Organizers said they have a pretty good line-up of units for the paradegoers.

After the parade will be a tractor show, a pork chop dinner at 4 p.m., and the queen coronation at Humphrey Elementary School at 6 p.m.
