And the next Miss Winsted is ... The Winsted American Legion Festival will crown its next Miss Winsted, Sunday, Aug. 8 in the Holy Trinity High School Gym at 5 p.m. A $1 donation will be collected at the door. This year, six candidates will vie for the title. The candidates are: Sarah Bisping Age: 17 Parents: Gerry and Carol Bisping Siblings: Steve and Jim Future plans after graduation: Attend two-year technical college for administrative secretary Hobbies: Basketball, volleyball, hanging out with friends What do you like most about Winsted? Definitely the people. Everybody is so caring and nice toward others. Rachel Baird Age: 18 Parents: Jim and Ruth Baird Siblings: Robin, Renda, RaVon, Jay, Rakel, Raleah Future plans after graduation: Attend Minnesota State University, Mankato for business management or communications. Hobbies: Play basketball What do you like most about Winsted? It is a beautiful city. The industries are great. People that live here love the community and show it with their support. Candice Anderson Age: 17 Parents: Dirk and Ann Marie Anderson Siblings: sister, Heather; nephews, Tyler and Chance Future plans after graduation: Attend Minneapolis Business College for accounting Hobbies: in-line skating, going out with friends. What do you like most about Winsted? Winstock, because it gives people from all over a chance to get to know each other and its a lot of fun. Raleah Baird Age: 18 Parents: Jim and Ruth Baird Siblings: Robin, Renda, RaVon, Jay, Rakel, Rachel Future plans after graduation: Attend a vocational school Hobbies: Being with friends What do you like most about Winsted? The people in the community work hard to keep the city looking good. When a stranger drives through Winsted, I'm sure they remember an inviting atmosphere and are surprised at all the industries. Leah Jude Age: 18 Parents: Andrew and Susan Jude Siblings: Kurt Future plans after graduation: Attend University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, become a registered nurse or physical therapist Hobbies: volleyball, swimming What do you like most about Winsted? It's small ­ there are no stoplights, I know my way around it, and the people are friendly. MacKenzie Strei Age: 18 Parents: Larry and Patricia Strei Siblings: Chad, Jennifer and Ashley Future plans after graduation: Ridgewater College-Hutchinson campus, then transfer to Minnesota State University, Mankato Hobbies: Spending time with friends, shopping and reading What do you like most about Winsted? It is a small town so everybody knows everybody.
