Former Howard Lake man dies in pickup truck crashA one-vehicle accident in Middleville Township in the early morning hours of Nov. 23 claimed the life of a 21-year-old man, formerly of Howard Lake. Rob Dwayne Hickman, Monticello, was killed when his 1997 Ford pickup truck crossed over the center line, entered a ditch and eventually struck a field approach on the other side, according to the Wright County Sheriff's Office. Hickman was traveling northbound at the SW 1500 block of Wright County Road 7. When he struck the field approach, the pickup became airborne and landed in front of the Dennis Kruzel residence. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the sheriff's office. Hickman was discovered at about 5 a.m. by a newspaper delivery person. Hickman grew up in Howard Lake where he graduated from Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted High School in 1997. Hickman worked with his father at Nord Excavating, Elk River, as a foreman on a heavy equipment crew. Hickman was the son of Dwayne and Patty Hickman of Clearwater. |
