Snowmobiles stolen, recovered in Lester Prairie

The Lester Prairie Police Department has received several stolen snowmobile reports in the last week.

Three snowmobiles taken early last week have all been recovered.

On Dec. 20, with the assistance of tips from Lester Prairie citizens, the police department was able to locate two of the snowmobiles in the woods south of the Lester Prairie waste water treatment plant, off of McLeod Co. Rd. 9.

The suspects were not at the scene of the recovered snowmobiles and the case is still under investigation.

In light of these reports, citizens are reminded to follow these recommendations:

Do not leave snowmobiles in an area that can't be seen or isn't lighted.

Do not leave snowmobiles running unattended.

Try to put snowmobiles in a locked garage, away from thieves.

Thieves can take any unattended property, including snowmobiles, in a matter of seconds. A few minutes of prevention can save you hours of frustration.

Call 911 if you see or hear of suspicious activity in or near your neighborhood. The Lester Prairie Police Department asks for your help to stop these crimes.
