Hutchinson man tells his wife he loves her in a big way
By Patrice Waldron
"I just wanted her to know," said Tom Neagbour of Hutchinson.
Neagbour recently gave his wife Paula an unusual gift in honor of the couple's first wedding anniversary, which they'll celebrate Sept. 30.
He rented a billboard on Highway 7 between Lester Prairie and Winsted, for his wife Paula, in honor of their first wedding anniversary.
The billboard was put up over Labor Day weekend. Paula was on vacation and was on her way to visit a friend in the cities when she saw the message.
"I was driving along when I saw my name on the billboard, and thought 'Why is my name there?'
I slowed down and read it. All I could say was 'Oh, my God, Oh, my God,'" Paula said.
"Now she can think about it all month long," said Tom.
Paula is the office manager at Allied Parking in Minneapolis, where she drives four days a week.
"He's very romantic. I'm very lucky to have him," Paula said of her husband.
The couple dated for about three years before getting married, and they've had their share of ups and downs, like everyone else has, explained Tom.
Their first year together has been extra busy, with her moving to Hutchinson from her place in Minneapolis. The couple bought a home in Hutchinson, and now Tom has gone back to school.
"She did a great job through all of that. She's just a great lady," Tom said.
Tom is taking courses at Ridgewater College in Hutchinson to become a registered nurse, is working at Hutchinson Community Hospital and at Burns Manor Nursing Home, and has received a lot of support from Paula.
Cunningham Advertising, Inc., in St.Bonifacius helped Tom send his wife the huge greeting.
"They were really helpful. They were a great help, in my putting this all together," said Tom.
"She's very supportive. She's so great. I just wanted her to know," Tom concluded.
