Three youths arrested in string of area burglariesBy Julie Yurek Three youths were recently arrested in connection with a string of burglaries in the Winsted area. Felony charges of burglary and possession of stolen goods have been filed against youths from the Glencoe, Plato, Silver Lake, and Winsted areas, Police Chief Mike Henrich said. The three were arrested on different days from May 2 to May 5, and posted bail by Thursday, Henrich said. It is believed that the youths were involved in the burglaries of three Winsted businesses Winsted Farmers Elevator, Pantry Cafe, and Littfin Lumber, according to the police report. Taken from the elevator were candy, cash, and a receipt machine. The Pantry reported cash and candy missing, and taken from Littfin Lumber was a radio, a computer, and computer-related items. Stolen merchandise was recovered during search warrants executed at the youths' residences, and also from an undisclosed location, Henrich said. Stolen items recovered included a laptop computer and power cord, software, and a receipt machine. The three are also linked to a residential burglary of a house in the Swan Lake area. It is believed that other burglary charges may be filed against one of the youths for other burglaries in Wright County, the report said. |
