More improvements to Highway 7 are in the works, this time
closer to home.
Local residents are invited to attend an informational
open house to give input on proposed improvements to Highway 7 between Silver
Lake and St. Bonifacius.
The open house will be at the Lester Prairie City Hall
Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 5 to 8 p.m.
The public may attend anytime between those hours. No formal
presentation is planned.
The project, which is seeking federal funding for 2006,
consists of resurfacing the existing highway and adding three passing lanes.
Each passing lane will be approximately one mile in length.
Locations for the lanes are being proposed:
· between McLeod County Road 15 and Eagle Avenue,
about three miles east of Silver Lake.
· Carver County Road 21 (turn-off to Hollywood Sports
Complex) and Tacoma Avenue.
· Polk Avenue and Carver County Road 10 (turn-off
to Waconia).
Residents will be able to view proposed designs and give
input.
Once information has been incorporated into the plans,
a formal public hearing will be conducted this winter, according to Mn/DOT.
