Mallak opens Realty Plus office
By Julie Yurek
Realty Plus real estate agent Art Mallak opened his doors in downtown Lester Prairie recently.
His business is located in the "triangle, between city hall, the post office, and grocery store," according to Mallak. It's located at 32 Juniper Street.
"It's one of the best places to be in town, because people walking to any of the three places in the 'triangle' walk past the office," he said.
Real estate was a natural step for Mallak, who is sort of a connoisseur of rental and owned property.
For the last 10 years, he has owned a number of properties in Lester Prairie, Winsted, and Silver Lake.
In Lester Prairie, he owns the entire building where his office and two other businesses are located.
In Winsted, he owns the building that the public library calls home.
He is also the former owner of the mobile home park, Country Acres.
There are apartments in the second level both the buildings in Lester Prairie and Winsted, he said.
He also owns a house in Silver Lake that he rents out.
Mallak decided to pursue real estate full-time after he was laid off from Sterner Lighting in Winsted last November. He was employed there for 14 years.
After the layoff, he pursued his real estate license, which he passed in the beginning of this year, he said.
Mallak uses his computer skills from his former job to enhance his realty business.
His technology knowledge allows him to show interested buyers various views of a house or property for sale, all at the touch of a button, he said. Then, if the buyer is interested in what they see, he can schedule a walk-through.
Business is good, he said. He likes being his own boss, he added.
His office phone number is (320) 395-5421.
He and his wife, Ann, live in Lester Prairie.
