By Lynda Jensen

Free entertainment and snippets of local history will highlight the golden anniversary of the Wright County Historical Society in Buffalo Saturday, June 8.

The event will feature several events and activities, including exhibitions on local history from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Wright County Historical Society, said Curator Maureen Galvin.

The society was first organized in 1942 and reorganized in 1967. It is a non-profit corporation.

The museum, library and archives are now located at 2001 Hwy. 25 North in Buffalo.

Five historic structures are owned by the society, including three log cabins, the 1908 Chatham Town Hall and the 1881 Welker one-room school.

Three of the structures are located in Howard Lake at the Wright County Fairgrounds, with the other two, the Streich-Tuckenhagen-Gritz Log Cabin and the Chatham Town Hall, located at the museum in Buffalo.
