Prairie Car Wash and Laundromat ready for grand opening
By Ryan Gueningsman
Trial and error is what it is taking to re-open the Prairie Car Wash and Laundromat (formerly Duncan's Car Wash and Laundromat).
After purchasing the business Nov. 1, new manager Lynne Ledger and new owner Mark Broeckert, both of the St. Boni area, thought that in three weeks they could have everything updated and in business.
Just over two months later, the Prairie Wash is finally up and running.
"We thought that in three weeks, we could get everything done that we needed to," Ledger said. "It took us a lot longer than that."
The building was gutted and painted, a new floor was installed and waxed, and a row of new washers was added, in addition to updating all of the other machines.
"We want to keep updating stuff," Ledger said. "But, there's only so much you can do at one time."
Plans are also in the works to update the two-bay car wash. This is Broeckert's first car wash that he has owned.
"It's all trial and error," Ledger said. "Sometimes it gets to be expensive trial and error, so it'll be an on-going process."
Prairie Car Wash and Laundromat will have an open house Saturday, Feb. 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cookies and coffee will be served, in addition to a free clothes wash and dry for people who stop in.
Regular hours for the business are daily from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
