Watertown medical supply store provides essentials for clients
By Jenni Sebora
Making a critical difference in the lives of people is the goal of Al Neumann, owner of Corner Medical in Watertown.
Corner Medical, located at the Riverbend Plaza Building in Watertown, offers the essentials, including a full line of hospital equipment from hospital beds to commodes to oxygen, owner Neumann said.
Neumann, who has a medical background in respiratory therapy, was also a regional manager for a large medical supply company for approximately 10 years and thought he could serve people better if he owned and operated stores himself.
“I enjoy taking care of people and want to make a difference in people’s lives,” Neumann said.
There is a need for independently owned medical equipment companies and people need choices, Neumann said.
Neumann chose the Watertown area for his business because he works closely with several Watertown physicians, as well as serving some area nursing homes, he added.
Although Corner Medical’s hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, the store will also deliver such items as commodes or oxygen equipment, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, if necessary, Neumann said
Neumann’s business specializes in equipment for obstructed sleep apnea and provides what is needed to keep people in their homes.
Besides the store in Watertown, Neumann owns and operates similar stores in Apple Valley and Red Wing.
The staff working at his stores is knowledgeable in medical equipment, as well as reimbursement procedures, such as working with insurance companies and medical assistance.
Neumann also plans to open stores in St. Cloud and on the north side of the metro area in the future.
“Things are going well,” Neumann said regarding the Watertown store.
“If there is a need in a certain location,” Neumann said, “I will put (a store) there.”
