Creations Salon opens in Waverly

By Liz Hellmann

Creations Salon and Tanning in Waverly offers services ranging from hair care to skin care and has recently opened its doors to customers .

The building is part of the newly built properties along the railroad beside Highway 12.

Owner Dawn Demarais began renting the building only three short weeks ago. "It has been quite the experience getting it up and running," Demarais said.

Creations offers a wide variety of services including tanning, waxing, manicures and pedicures, acrylic nails, and ear piercing. They also offer family hair care, cuts, and coloring.

Demarais and her co-worker Jackie Twardy run the salon.

Sandy Stasson, owner of Waverly Flooring, helped them get up and running by designing the flooring and interior decorating.

Demarais and Twardy both graduated from St. Cloud Beauty College.

Demarais gained 15 years experience working at Barbereze, a salon in Cokato.

Twardy worked at a salon in Spokane, Washington for seven years before moving back to Minnesota. She then worked with Demarais in Cokato for 8 years.

Demarais and Twardy started Creations so they could work for themselves.

"It's been an adventure," Twardy said, "but it's always a good day at Creations Salon and Tanning."

They pride themselves in their friendly service, and their goal is to keep an updated atmosphere and bring in some modern trends.

Creations is open Tuesdays through Friday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to noon.
