By Lynda Jensen
A charge of criminal vehicular operation is pending for a motorcycle driver after a two-vehicle accident in Howard Lake July 31 sent himself and his rider to the hospital.
Lorin Miller, 44 of Howard Lake was injured, along with his passenger Janet Edholm, 43, of Cokato when the 1988 Honda he was riding crashed headlong into a white 1987 Oldsmobile Regency driven by Patrick Heber, 27, of Howard Lake.
Miller was driving northbound along Wright County Road 6 in the southbound lane when he came into contact with Heber, according to the accident report from the Wright County Sheriff’s Department.
Miller was travelling near 50th St. SW of Middleville Township at 9:55 p.m. when he met Heber, who was traveling southbound in the southbound lane, head-on.
Criminal vehicular operation is a gross misdemeanor, and is primarily based on the alleged negligent driving conduct of the driver, commented Liet. Dan Anselment of the sheriff’s department.
The Howard Lake rescue was already on the scene tending to the accident victims when the Wright County Sheriff’s Department arrived.
Edholm was transported to North Memorial by ambulance for a head injury, according to the accident report.
Miller was transported to Buffalo Hospital for leg pain, according to the accident report.
