Lachermeier named Minnesota truck driver of the month
By Ryan Gueningsman
Glenn Lachermeier of Lester Prairie was recently named the August 2004 Driver of the Month by the Minnesota Trucking Association.
Lachermeier has been driving truck for more than 20 years, the last 12 of which have been as an owner operator for Kottke Trucking in Buffalo Lake.
Presently, Lachermeier hauls mostly frozen grocery commodities throughout the midwest. He said he enjoys what he does.
According to Kurt Kottke, Kottke Trucking relies “not only on Glenn’s skills as a safe, professional driver, but also on his upstanding character when dealing with shipping staff and customers.”
Lachermeier is a driver of the month because he is safe, professional, dependable and loyal, according to the MTA. Throughout his career, he has received numerous safety recognitions including a 10-year safe driving award from Kottke Trucking.
Lachermeier and his wife, Barbara Carr, reside in Lester Prairie. During his time off, he catches up on chores at home and maintains his truck.
Kottke Trucking is a company of 65 trucks and 95 reefers and dry vans operating in the midwest, south and southeastern part of the United States. The company was founded in 1938 and it continues with the newest of technologies and the oldest of traditions.
The MTA drivers of the month are selected for their extraordinary safety record and dedication to the positive image of the professional truck driver. All of the distinguished drivers will go on to compete for the title driver of the year and are honored at the annual banquet in January.
The MTA is Minnesota’s largest trucking organization, representing the industry statewide with advocacy, public relations and support programs.
