Waverly Lions interested in running village hall
By Lynda Jensen
The Waverly Lions are toying with the idea of managing the Village Hall for a one-year trial period, according to action at the city council meeting Tuesday.
Lion David Rice described the idea as preliminary, but indicated the Lions were discussing how workable it might be in the way of staffing and how much, he said.
“I’ve had nothing but positive reactions from people,” Rice said.
He pointed out that the Lions aren’t allowed to own buildings, so the city would continue to own it.
However, there are advantages to obtaining grants up to $75,000 with this arrangement, he said.
Mayor Charlie Bush encouraged the idea.
The subject, if it comes to fruition, will be discussed in the future.
