Dr. David G. Nesseth of the Nesseth Chiropractic Clinic of Cokato began treating patients Oct. 3 in the former Staples Chiropractic Center.

The clinic is located at 235 Broadway Ave. S., Tower Center Mall.

Nesseth graduated in April from the Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington.

Prior to coming to Cokato he worked in Plymouth and also served internships at Rockford and Winsted.

About half of Nesseth’s patients are seeking relief from low back pain, Nesseth said. About 40 percent are suffering from neck pain and headaches. Nesseth’s family practice also treats ear infections, migraines and heartburn, he said.

“The focus of traditional health care is on germs and blood. Chiropractic is different. Chiropractic produces results by helping your nervous system work the way it should. An emphasis on blood overlooks the role of the nervous system, which controls your blood, blood pressure, and millions of other details,” according to Nesseth.

Nesseth’s specialty is working on soft tissue and rehabilitation of muscles to relieve pain in the feet, hands or shoulders, for example, he said.

Nesseth uses the Graston technique to break up adhesions and scar tissue by rubbing the skin with the edge of specially designed metal instruments, he said.

Nesseth told about an elderly woman whose feet were bothering her. Nesseth used the Graston technique on the muscles of her feet and the results were remarkable, he said.

She telephoned him afterward to tell him she had been washing windows, a task she had been unable to do for years because of the pain in her feet, Nesseth said.
