Archwood Bay Builders hoping to grow in area
By Ryan Gueningsman
A new, local company is hoping to make more residents aware of its existence, as well as build trust with those residents by doing general contracting work.
Archwood Bay Builders, which has been known as G.H. Construction, is owned and operated by brothers Greg Hillukka and Gary Hillukka and their crew of 10 people, and is based in the Howard Lake Industrial Park.
“Most of our work is done in the west metro,” Gary said. “We want to try to build up that trust around here.”
The company provides a variety of services, including general contracting, along with remodels, new construction, framing, exteriors, and specializes in room additions, kitchen/baths, basements, screen porches, and decks.
Up to this point, the brothers have focused on working on homes in the Minnetonka area, that generally range in costs up to $1 million.
“We do quality work at a reasonable price,” Greg said.
Both brothers grew up in Menahga, located in northern Minnesota. Gary has an engineering degree from St. Cloud State University. Greg has worked construction since the age of 16, and learned many tricks of the trade when he lived in Aspen, Colo. for three years.
“We’ve done a lot of remodels, and a lot of high end framing and siding,” Greg said.
“When we were growing up, we had to do all the fixing around the house because our dad was no good at it,” he added with a laugh.
Both brothers now live in the area; Greg in Howard Lake, and Gary in Cokato.
“We’re here to stay,” Greg said. “We’re not going anywhere.”
Archwood Bay Builders can be reached at (320) 543-0004. The Hikkillas encourage persons interested to leave a message if there is no answer, because the two of them frequently are at work at job sites.
Greg can also be reached at (612) 703-1581, and Gary at (612) 703-1486, or by stopping at 1000 Commerce Blvd., Suite 400 in the Howard Lake Industrial Park.
