One dies following French Lake crash involving six youth

A single-vehicle accident involving six people in French Lake Township claimed the life of a 13-year-old Kimball girl, and sent a 13-year-old Howard Lake girl to the hospital July 19.

Krysta Mozena, 13, of Kimball, died as a result of the accident, which took place at the intersection of Wright County Road 35 and Reardon Avenue, reported the Wright County Sheriff’s Department. Mozena was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

Samantha Klugow, 13, of Howard Lake, was transported to Buffalo Hospital via ground ambulance, and later transported to North Memorial Medical Center where she was listed in fair condition.

The initial investigation by the sheriff’s department indicates the driver of the vehicle, Matthew Felegy, 17, of Kimball, was traveling southbound on Wright County Road 35. A report was received just after 2 a.m. of a vehicle accident. When deputies arrived, they found that the vehicle had overturned and that there were six occupants.

Felegy was airlifted from the scene by North Memorial Air Care.He is listed in stable condition at North Memorial Medical Center.

Maria Fennema, 6, of South Haven, was taken to Buffalo Hospital, and later airlifted to North Memorial, where she was listed in serious condition.

Samantha Hawkins, 14, from Cokato, and Dylan Kaskinen, 18, of Kimball, were transported to Hutchinson Community Hospital via ground ambulance, where they were treated and released.

The accident remains under investigation by the Wright County Sheriff’s Department.
