'Loan Sheriff' sets up shop in Howard Lake

There may be many loan officers competing for your business, but only one claims to be “The Loan Sheriff.”

“You’ve heard of loan officers – I’m the loan sheriff,” said new Howard Lake mortgage banker Chad LaRoche of Mortgages Unlimited, with a smile.

The title came about when LaRoche was kicking around ideas about how to differentiate himself from the others out there.

LaRoche has opened a Mortgages Unlimited satellite office in Howard Lake, offering another option to those who are purchasing a home and refinancing, he said. He has been in Howard Lake for about three weeks.

“Everything will be done locally – the underwriting and closings,” he said, adding that nothing will be done out of state, as is the case with some other firms in the business.

His company works with more than 20 different investors and lenders, he said, noting there are a number of different programs he can offer to cater to different people.

Mortgages Unlimited has been in business more than 15 years, and has main offices in Maple Grove, Blaine, Bloomington, and Inver grove Heights.

LaRoche was born and raised in the Minnetonka area, and currently resides in Chaska with his wife of seven years, Kim, and their two children, Lisa, 4, and Olivia, 2.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from St. Mary’s University in Winona, and has been in the mortgage business about six years.

Growing communities such as Howard Lake, Waverly, Montrose, and Cokato, along with the business potential that brings, are reasons LaRoche cites for opening an office in Howard Lake.

“There was also an opportunity for an office here,” LaRoche said. “Now, we’re trying to establish a presence and get to know the community.

LaRoche was present at the most recent Howard Lake Business Association meeting, making introductions to other business owners and managers from the community.

He is also a part of the network group BNI (Business Network International), and is a former member of the Eden Prairie Rotary.

His office is in suite 2 at 600 8th Avenue (the Lakes Area Realty building) at the corner of Highway 12 and 8th Avenue.

His goal is to be in the Howard Lake office Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as by appointment, he said.

He is also available by phone at (320) 543-1023 or at (952) 893-9267. LaRoche’s web site is www.theloansheriff.net.
