Mayer Mobil celebrating anniversary

By Ivan Raconteur
Staff Writer

There were fewer cars on the road when Mayer Mobil was founded in 1928.

The company has been a fixture in downtown Mayer for decades, and has survived through wars, the Great Depression, and the 1973 oil crisis.

Rich and Eunice Cohrs have owned the station for 30 of its 78 years.

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, and to thank the customers who have supported them over the years, they are having a customer appreciation day, Saturday, Sept. 16.

During the event, hot dogs and pop will be available, and price drawings will be conducted.

Consistency has been a part of the success of the company.

Store manager Bea Bauer has been with the company for 19 years, and Connie McIntosh has been employed at the station for the whole 30 years the Cohrs family has owned it.
