Have a ball at Twine Ball celebration



The 15th annual Darwin Twine Ball Celebration is set for Saturday, Aug. 12.

The day begins with a craft fair and collectibles show at 9 a.m. on Williams Avenue.

The parade featuring local royalty, area floats, antique cars and much more, will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Main Sstreet.

Following the parade at 2:30 p.m. is the garden tractor pull on Main Street.

A BBQ pork chop dinner will be served in the park by Vern and Ken Porth of the Darwin Freezer beginning at 4 p.m. Advanced tickets can be purchased at the museum located behind the twine ball or at Twineball Antiques, for $6.50 a plate or $7 the day of the dinner.

Music in the park will follow beginning at 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. featuring Backroads.

A raffle drawing will be at 8:30 p.m. with first prize winner of $300, second prize winner $100, and third, fourth, fifth and sixth place winners receiving $50 each.

Throughout the day beginning at 9:30 a.m. the Lions Club will be serving hamburgers, brats, and beer in the park.

Sand volleyball starts at 9 a.m. in the park. Call 693-5902 to sign up.

At 10 a.m., a kids pedal tractor pull will be going down Main Street. Registration is at 9:30 a.m.

A pictorial museum will be displayed from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for people to meet fellow Darwinites.

All proceeds from the event will go to Darwin Tourism and Promotional fund.
