Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should

Just because you can
Climb onto the roof
Doesn’t mean you should
Jump off of it

Just because you can
Eat five candy bars
Doesn’t mean you should
All at once

Just because you can
Wear stripes with polka dots
Doesn’t mean you should
On picture day

Just because you can
Eat all the cookie dough
Doesn’t mean you should
Instead of baking the cookies

Just because you can
Wake mom up at 5 a.m.
Doesn’t mean you should
On Saturdays

Just because you can
Cut up the newspaper
Doesn’t mean you should
Before dad’s read it

Just because you can
Hide your mess in the closet
Doesn’t mean you should
Or that mom won’t find it

Just because you can
Do a cartwheel in the living room
Doesn’t mean you should
Right next to the TV

Just because you can
Swing a golf club
Doesn’t mean you should
While facing the house

Just because you can
Put the cat in the bathtub
Doesn’t mean you should
Or that you won’t get scratched

Just because you can
Use a permanent marker
Doesn’t mean you should
On your toenails

Just because you can
Paint your bedroom wall
Doesn’t mean you should
With red Kool-Aid

Just because you can
Make your sister smell your feet
Doesn’t mean you should
Or that she won’t get you back

Just because you can
Blow booger bubbles
Doesn’t mean you should
At your aunt’s wedding
