St. Peter's 'Cabin fever fest' set for Sunday

St. Peter’s School invites families to “Cabin Fever Family Fun” event and pancake/waffle Breakfast Sunday, Jan. 28.

Appearances by Samantha the six-foot-long snake and David Linton’s offbeat juggling; vehicle raffle, and silent auction are all scheduled to take place to benefit St. Peter’s School.

Families are invited to chase away the winter blues by attending St. Peter’s School first ever “Cabin Fever Family Fun” event from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28. The school is located at 235 2nd St. South in Delano.

“Cabin Fever” is designed especially for kids, ages three-12, and their families who want to get out of the house and have fun together. The event is free and open to the public, and will help kick off the school’s participation in Catholic Schools Week.

Featured guests

Samantha, a six-foot-long bull snake, snapping turtles, and a merlin falcon from the Three Rivers Park District Animal Outreach Program. Naturalist Tim Kiely will teach attendees about these spectacular creatures.

David Linton’s “OffBeat Juggling” – a special blend of sparkling humor and spectacular stunts by Linton, who has dazzled audiences on the boisterous streets of the Minnesota Renaissance Festival to the refinement of the Children’s Theater Company. 

A Three Rivers Park District touch-and-feel wildlife exhibit, an animal scavenger hunt with children’s prizes, and arts and crafts will also take place in the school.

The general public is also invited to the St. Peter’s School annual pancake/waffle breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon in the St. Peter’s Church Dining Hall. A freewill offering is welcomed.

Feeling lucky? From 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., a silent auction of more than 50 family-oriented items, such as four tickets to the Science Museum of Minnesota, and a bowling party for up to 60 people at the Park Tavern in St. Louis Park, will take place. Proceeds from the raffle and silent auction will benefit St. Peter’s School.

At noon, a raffle drawing for a $15,000 voucher towards the purchase of a vehicle/sports power product of the winner’s choice from Star West Chevrolet Honda Sports will take place. Drawings for a $500 prize, a $250 prize, and 10 $25 cash prizes will also take place.

Tickets cost $20 and are available for purchase at the St. Peter’s School office, the Delano Catholic Community office, Star West, State Bank of Delano, Crow River Bank, B’s on the River, Dave’s Town Club, Doc Holidays, EveryDays, Bliss Spa and Tanning, Meyer Chiropractic, and Watertrek and D’Vinci’s in Watertown.

Raffle tickets will also be sold Sunday, Jan. 28 at St. Peter’s Church until 11:30 a.m.
