Road construction begins on CSAH 17 south of Delano

Road construction on a 4.2 mile segment of CSAH 17 from the south Wright County line to the south city limits of Delano began last Monday.

Off-roadway work consisting of tree clearing, as well as cleaning and grubbing of trees will occur along the entire length of the project.

A swamp surcharge (overloading with sand) will take place from 117th Street SE to 0.2 miles south of Fenner Avenue, according to the Wright County Highway Department.

This work will require the placement of several layers of sand. There will be a delay of up to two weeks between placement of sand layers, dependant on settlement rates. This work was tentatively set to begin last Wednesday, and requires a road closure and detour.

Traffic will be detoured via Highway 12 east to Hennepin County Road 92, then south to Hennepin County Road 6, and back west to Wright County Road 17.

Work on this project will occur this fall and continue in stages over the winter. It is anticipated work will carry into the spring or summer of 2008.

The prime contractor for the project is Dennis Fehn Gravel and Excavating of Albertville.
