Weather permitting, Sundblad Construction of Cokato will begin work Monday, Oct. 22 on a portion of Wright County Road 30 in Delano.

Plans for the storm and sanitary sewer installation/modification project call for running a 48-inch storm water culvert under Wright County Road 30 at the storm water pond just southwest of the wastewater treatment plant.

According to City Engineer Kent Torve of Wenck Associates, this culvert is needed in order to provide adequate water flow to the new storm water lift station that is planned in this area.

Installation of the culvert couldn’t wait until 2008 when the lift station is planned for construction due to the Highway 12 detour route being planned for Wright County Road 30. Torve said the road needs to be cut and repaved this fall before the Highway 12 detour begins early next spring.

It is expected this project will close Wright County Road 30 east of River Street for no more than a week. Sundblad is required to have the road restored by the end of Saturday of the same week, with a detour running throughout that period.

A planned detour route will loop drivers around the north part of Delano on River Street/Wright County Road 17 back to County Line Road. Drivers can also take Elm Avenue to Tiger Drive.
