Going once, going twice, sold

Cokato welcomes new local auctioneer

Derek Lundeen of Cokato had his first auction as a certified auctioneer at a Cokato Legion fund-raising auction last week.

Lundeen, co-owner of Lundeen Motors and Lundeen Fast Lube in Cokato, had some free time in February. He and his friend Gregg Halonen of Dassel, decided together to take a seven-day course at Continental Auctioneers School in Mankato.

There, Lundeen and Halonen received diplomas to be a certified auctioneer in personal property, Real Estate, and fund-raising. He is also a certified personal property appraiser.

Lundeen experienced his first auction with the help of Lee Dahlquist, Cokato, during the annual Cokato Legion fund-raising auction. Donated items from the community were auctioned off to raise money for the Legion.

He is currently getting his own auction business started, Lundeen Auction and Appraiser, and is hoping to find work in the area.

Lundeen’s father, Punk, has always been a big fan of estate auctions, collectibles, vehicles, equipment and property. “That’s how I got into it,” he said.

If anyone is interested in holding an auction, contact Derek Lundeen at (320) 286-5449.
