Montrose Days features family funBy Lynda Jensen Whether it’s Sneaky Pete’s Tractor Pull, coronation, the grande parade or numerous other events to choose from, Montrose Days has something for everyone. Montrose Days is set for Friday through Sunday, Aug. 17-19. in Montrose, with many activities taking place at Lions Park. The ever-popular medallion hunt, sponsored by the Montrose Lions, started Sunday and takes place throughout the week, with new clues being posted daily at the city hall. The Suzuki Kids string instruments group from the Montrose Elementary School add musical enjoyment Friday, along with the junior ambassador coronation. Saturday is a busy day with a doubles horseshoe tournament, kiddie parade, kids’ pedal pull, beach party with KRWC, and a pork chop dinner. The party carries into the evening hours with street dances both Friday and Saturday night. All three days of the celebration are filled with children’s games and activities, cash drawings, and food booths sponsored by local organizations. Car enthusiasts are also welcome to check out the annual car show. Sunday begins with the 1 p.m. parade, a late afternoon chicken dinner sponsored by the Montrose Lions, and an afternoon street dance. The festivities culminate in the Montrose Ambassadors’ coronation at the Montrose Community Center after the parade Sunday. |
